Andrew Smith


Andrew was born in Stoke on Trent and educated at Newcastle High School and Cambridge, where he studied law. After a career as a solicitor, becoming partner in a large local firm, he is currently studying for a masters in counselling and psychotherapy at Keele University. In his role as senior independent director at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, Andrew is the board lead for the arts.

Outside work, Andrew was for many years a carer for his father, who was disabled in later life, and he has served since 1998 as a governor and former chair of Abbey Hill Special School and Performing Arts College.

FRONTLINEdance’s innovative and acclaimed work at UHNM Hospitals and passion for working in the fields of disability and education attracted Andrew to join the board.
