 About FRONTLINEdance:

Under the Artistic Direction of Rachael Lines, UK based FRONTLINEdance is a ‘not-for-profit’ company Ltd by guarantee (no shareholders). We are a disability-focused, integrated (disabled and non-disabled) dance company, with a strand for older people and another for dance and health. We have a small but dedicated staff team and voluntary board of directors.

Expectation for the role
We have an immediate vacancy for a Treasurer, who will lead financial oversight on behalf of the Board. In the last six months, we have been improving our systems and processes, but there is more to be done. Working closely with and supporting the Company Development Manager and other staff, you will build on the progress we have made so far.

You will also contribute more broadly to the strategic direction of the organisation as an active Board member. As with many small not-for-profit companies, financial sustainability is an ongoing challenge. You will help the Board and management to identify ways to consolidate the financial situation and deliver on our long-term ambition to diversify our income base, increasing the proportion of earned revenue while also delivering greater social and environmental impact.

As a guide, the typical Treasurer’s role commitment is 8-hours per month, and as a ‘not for profit’ company the role is voluntary (unpaid). The Board typically holds six evening meetings per year. The key responsibility is to actively engage in these meetings, setting out direction and reviewing big decisions for the company. Between meetings, each Board member provides ad-hoc advice and support in their area of expertise, and each is involved in supporting a particular FRONTLINEdance priority.
From you, we’ll look for skills and experience in accounting and financial management, as well as a commitment to FRONTLINEdance’s vision and aims, a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to fulfilling the role, and the ability to be an effective member of a team.

With participants continually gaining self-confidence, tolerance, knowledge, understanding and enthusiasm, these clear and strong long-term benefits will assist and develop in all areas of individual lives and communities.

FRONTLINEdance’s mission is to develop and broaden its programme of dance participation and performance opportunities, to stretch the possibilities, and potential for, disabled and non-disabled people to integrate together within a community and professional context.

Running parallel to this is its desire to extend its work in increasing the physical health and well-being benefits dance can offer in health and with older people. This includes showcasing high quality, professional contemporary dance, and integrated dance performance in health care, residential and community settings.
